Yosemite, CA

A one minute single exposure taken after midnight.
Artist Statement:
"Ansel Adams' grandson Matthew gave me permission to perform this homage to my idol at the gallery in Yosemite Valley. On the darkened porch, I put on my Ansel costume and placed a cardboard mock-up of my camera and a tripod in front of the window. I opened the shutter on my 1950's film camera, hopped into the shot, and stood perfectly still (blocking the light) for less than a minute to create a silhouette on the negative. At a precise moment, I leaped out of the frame with my props, and waited a few seconds before closing the shutter, to allow for the gallery light to shine through the silhouette on the negative to make it translucent. This is one of 10 attempts.

Framing options are available at an additional cost. Please call 310.398-1899 to inquire.
International shipping is available if you call us to place an order.
